The Silverton School is a small public school located in Silverton, Colorado, in the heart of the San Juan mountain range. The school has approximately 60 students in grades K-12 and is housed in an historic 3 story red brick building.  In 2002, the Silverton School joined a network of 115 Expeditionary Learning schools across the country.  This national model works well with our school's setting, small class sizes, and overall goals for academic excellence.  For more information regarding Expeditionary Learning in the Silverton school, click here.

Our school is unique in its very setting and its high emphasis on individualized instruction.  Our goal is to meet the individual learning needs of every student through curriculum that is both engaging and academically challenging.  We work to develop confident, competent students who consistently strive for excellence.

The education we provide is firmly based on the Colorado State Standards with a school wide focus on reading and writing at all grade levels.  The school's non-traditional format, with flexible scheduling and frequent opportunities for fieldwork, allows students to learn in real-life settings.

We embrace change and challenge through the five elements of our school character: respect, responsibility, integrity, compassion and courage.
